Everton manager Marco Silva should give Ademola Lookman a starting spot ahead of Theo Walcott for Sunday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Chalkboard

Walcott had an impressive start to the season when he scored two goals and registered an assist in the opening three Premier League games.

However, since then, the former Arsenal star has struggled to make a significant impact on the pitch.

The England international has only added one more assist to his tally, but has started every single league match under Silva.

At the weekend, Walcott was replaced by Lookman in the 73rd minute against Cardiff City and he showed why he should be under consideration ahead of the Merseyside derby.

The 21-year-old has only made eight appearances in all competitions and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes.

During his cameo against Cardiff, though, he displayed plenty of energy and skill on the ball, which could cause Liverpool problems.

A risk worth taking?

Lookman certainly has the talent to succeed at the top level, but he should be getting more minutes on the pitch.

Considering how little game time he has had this season, it is a risk for Silva to throw him into the lions den in such a huge game.

However, Liverpool will likely be preparing to face a team with Walcott on the wing.

So, if Lookman is included in the first XI it could throw off Klopp's initial game plan, which would certainly work in Everton's favour.

The youngster will be keen to prove his ability and there is no better way to do it than against the Toffees' arch rivals on away turf.
