Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez is currently being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but Everton should be in the hunt for the Uruguay international.
Indeed, the Toffees currently have a problem in the final third of the field, and a new striker is certainly high on head coach Marco Silva’s priority list.
Cenk Tosun actually performed quite well in the second half of last season following his arrival at Goodison Park, but there is no question that the Turkey international has failed to impress in the early months of the 2018-19 campaign.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse are also options for Silva, but the fact of the matter is that Richarlison – a winger – is currently the team’s starting striker.
There is enormous pressure on the Brazilian to deliver goals, and whilst he has managed six in the Premier League this term, Everton will be unable to reach the next level unless they have more firepower in attack.
Gomez would be the perfect addition to the Everton frontline, with the South American capable of linking with Richarlison and Theo Walcott. Indeed, his aerial prowess and excellent finishing skills are just two assets that make him a very good centre-forward.
Gomez arrived at Celta from Uruguayan outfit Defensor Sporting in the summer of 2017, and the centre-forward has proved to be a fine addition for the La Liga club.
Indeed, Gomez has managed 24 goals and nine assists in 49 appearances for Celta, including six goals in 10 La Liga appearances this term.

Gomez did not have his best match against Real Madrid at the weekend, but his overall form has been very strong, and his style of play would be perfect for the Premier League.
Celta are believed to have paid just £3.5m for Gomez in May 2017, which is some deal. That price will have obviously increased, but Everton should be prepared to break the bank for the 22-year-old, who is just perfect to lead their line.
