Keep two of three

Although it is clear that Everton will not be able to keep hold of all three of their key players – Leighton Baines, Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jagielka – due to widespread interest from the Premier League’s top four, Roberto Martinez and Bill Kenwright will be hoping at least two will decide to stay on at Goodison.

Should all three depart, it will make the new Toffees’ boss’ first season much tougher, and it will be virtually impossible to find adequate replacements by September.

It seems that Fellaini is particularly being put up in the shop window to attract other clubs, undoubtedly due to his £23million price tag, which would provide added transfer revenue for Roberto Martinez.

Jagielka, on the other hand, will be rewarded if he stays with the offer of the captain’s arm band, while Baines’ creative influence on the first team at this point is irreplaceable, and the Everton management would much rather he stayed put, regardless of the potential transfer profits his departure would provide.
