Everton fans are only represented by a single member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad at this World Cup, but the Toffees will be delighted with Jordan Pickford’s performances at the tournament so far.

On Saturday afternoon, England’s no. 1 kept his first clean sheet of the Three Lions' World Cup campaign, and did so in spectacular style against a dogged Sweden side.

In the second half, the shot-stopper was called upon to make superb reaction saves on three separate occasions as Sweden threatened to force their ways back into the tie. The Sunderland-born ‘keeper, who remains a hero in his hometown, stood firm and made sure that England would make safe progress into their first World Cup semi-final in 28 years.

There was so much about the 24-year-old’s game that caught the eye against Sweden, as he demonstrated great awareness, incredible reflexes, and consistently accurate distribution. His vocalness and dominant command of his own penalty area was also heartwarming for England supporters to witness.
