According to Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo, Everton are considering making a move for Sevilla striker Luis Muriel, as part of a deal that could see Toffees attacker Sandro Ramirez go the other way and join the La Liga club on a permanent basis following a loan spell in the second-half of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Colombia international only moved to Spain from Serie A outfit Sampdoria last summer, but he perhaps didn't make the impact that might have expected of him in his debut campaign as the club's record signing, in terms of finding the net.

The 27-year-old scored nine goals and provided a further four assists in 46 appearances in all competitions – the majority of which came from the substitutes' bench – while he featured for just 252 minutes of their Champions League campaign as they reached the quarter-finals.

It is hardly a record of a player who would arrive at Goodison Park and provide real competition for Cenk Tosun up top, and perhaps the Merseyside outfit's new director of football Marcel Brands, who can become an instant hero with supporters if he completes amazing £70m deal, would be better off looking at players he has a better knowledge of in the Netherlands, having played a huge role in the PSV Eindhoven success story this term.

Here are three Eredivisie strikers Everton should target instead of Luis Muriel…

The Feyenoord striker was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United during the January transfer window after an impressive first-half of the campaign, and the 6ft 3in centre-forward certainly has the physical traits to be a success in the Premier League.

His goal record after deadline day -  he only netted four times from then until the end of the season – is perhaps a bit of a worry, but his record of 38 goals in 76 appearances in total for the Rotterdam outfit is far more impressive, and he would certainly provide some much-needed stiff competition for Tosun.

Like Jorgensen, Johnsen is a target man that stands at a huge 6ft 5in tall, and he has enjoyed a brilliant debut season for Ado Den Haag having joined the Dutch club from Hearts last summer.

The Norway international showed his goalscoring pedigree with 19 goals in 34 Eredivisie appearances this term, while he showed his strength and ability in the air by winning 170 of the 334 aerial duels he faced, as per WhoScored.com.

The 26-year-old may be a bit of a rough diamond, but he appears to have the quality to be a more than able back-up to Tosun next season.

The 25-year-old is the tallest of our trio at 6ft 6in tall, and he may well be familiar to England fans as he came on a substitute against them to make his Netherlands debut back in March.

The Dutchman earned that call from former Toffees manager Ronald Koeman following an outstanding campaign for Twente, which ended with him scoring 27 goals and providing a further eight assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.

Whether Koeman would recommend the centre-forward, who even captained his side on numerous occasions this term, moving to Goodison Park for him remains to be seen, but he certainly looks as though he has plenty to offer seeing as he is actually better with the ball at his feet than from an aerial point of view.
