After several days of rumours and reported rejected bids, yesterday Ashley Williams’ move to Everton was finally confirmed.
The ex-Swansea man moves to the Merseyside club on a two year deal, with the deal reported to be worth £9million.
At 31 years old, Williams’ is definitely not a short term fix at the club, evidenced by the short contract length, but the solid defender will be able to command the Everton defence; and ensure that the side regain their position in the Premier League over the coming season.
With Ronald Koeman keen to upgrade his squad, it seems unlikely that Williams will be the last addition at the club before the window shuts in a few weeks; with a few notable names still linked with a move to the club.
With that, here are THREE players that could follow Ashley Williams to Everton
With the recent departure of John Stones to Manchester City, Koeman’s first priority is to reorganise and rebuild his defensive line, beginning with an experienced central defender.
Currently plying his trade for Sunderland, Lamine Kone has emerged as the side’s priority target.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Koeman hopes to get the deal tied up shortly, with a reported £18 million move in the pipeline.
With the club reportedly confident; this one will likely be confirmed shortly.
Another big money signing linked with Everton is Crystal Palace star Yannick Bolasie.
The purported £28 million deal would equal the price that The Toffee’s paid for Romelu Lukaku just a few years away, indicating that the club are keen to reinvest the money they recently acquired from the sale of John Stones.
The Daily Star is reporting that the move is set to be completed within 48 hours, so like the deal for Kone – expect this one to be confirmed shortly.
With Romelu Lukaku reportedly set to move to Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window, Everton are reportedly keen to prepare for his departure by signing a top class replacement.
Wilfried Bony has been made surplus to requirements at Manchester City by Pep Guardiola, and as a result he will likely be available for a cut price fee; attracting the interest of Ronald Koeman and Everton.
The Daily Star is reporting that Everton are favourites for the Ivorian striker’s signature, and should Lukaku leave the club you can expect this deal to follow soon after.
