Everton showed their worst side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with a completely lacklustre display that concluded in a heavy defeat.
Suspect defending also led to four goals being conceded, but the midfield battle was arguably where the game was won and lost, at least according to Everton fans.
As a result, many have ripped into Tom Davies for his poor contribution, questioning exactly what he brings to do the side.
Against Chelsea he offered little in both attack and defence, failing to win a tackle or produce a single key pass, per SofaScore.
I think Davies is the most overrated player I have ever seen how he gets a game I don’t know

I’d like to know why Sigurdsson, Davies and Keane keep getting a start in games ???? Sigurdsson has had his day , Davies a headless chicken more concerned about his hair and socks Keane too slow

Davies is a plank, shouldn’t be near the starting 11, useless!

To make matters worse for supporters, Chelsea were comfortable despite missing key midfielders like N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, with 18-year-old Billy Gilmour making his Premier League debut.
The Scot impressed, too, picking up the Man of the Match award despite his youth, and his age has allowed Everton supporters to make a direct comparison to their own young midfielder in Davies.
The 21-year-old burst onto the scene in a similar fashion during 2016/17, scoring a magnificent goal against Manchester City as he made 24 league appearances, but since then he has struggled to make the same kind of impact – last season he started just ten games, earning a Whoscored rating of 6.4.
Some fans certainly feel that is the case, suggesting he has stagnated or even declined over the past few years.
Davies has played under 4-5 managers and just hadn’t kicked on

Davies is at a crossroads with us. Not really improved & has been living of his goal against City. He needs to listen to Ancelotti to improve or leave for a lesser club like West Ham, Newcastle or Villa because that’s his level atm

Davies has dropped so much this season. Hard to see what’s he is bringing to the team atm
