Everton attacker Richarlison has opened up on rumours suggesting that Barcelona made a bid for him in the January transfer window, insisting that the reports were simply rumours, per The Daily Mail.

What’s the word?

Sky Sports reported that Barca tabled a staggering bid worth £85m for the Brazil international as the deadline approached.

The news appeared to come out of the blue, especially considering that the 22-year-old signed a new contract in December.

And he has now confirmed that he was just as surprised by reports of such a bid.

He said: “I was at home playing video games online with my friends back home in Brazil when I suddenly started receiving all these messages from people asking if the Barcelona story was true.

“I didn't know anything about it. My agent spoke to Everton and it was nothing, just rumours.

“It's nice to have recognition but I want to continue to score goals and do well here.”

Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players....

Good news for Everton fans

This is a boost for Everton supporters.

Richarlison is a player who has become something of a cornerstone of the Everton project, making 66 appearances in total for the club.

This season Richarlison has scored 11 goals and registered four assists in 29 outings.

Clearly, he is out to make a name for himself at Goodison Park and keep scoring goals for the club.

And the fact that he has rejected the idea of a move to Barca and it will surely set minds at ease ahead of the summer transfer window.

He could well have been the subject of a transfer saga upon the opening of the window but it appears that is unlikely at this stage.

Meanwhile, Everton fans love a Moise Kean video!
