Everton will look to bounce back from their 5-1 thrashing against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday when they host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park this weekend.

The Toffees found themselves 4-0 down after just 37 minutes in north London, and it is a location that certainly hasn't been kind to them given they were beaten 4-0 by Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in their previous Premier League match on the road.

The Merseyside outfit have fared slightly better on their own patch so far in 2018, taking four points from their last two top flight fixtures against West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City, with new boy Theo Walcott scoring both goals in the 2-1 win against the Foxes last week.

While Sam Allardyce's men look to be relatively comfortable in mid-table right now as they currently lie seven points above the relegation zone, the former England boss will be well aware of the importance of picking up points at home given their poor record on the road this season – only West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City have taken fewer points than their tally of eight.

The 63-year-old certainly saw a few of his players struggle at the Emirates, and he will regret it if he fails to make a couple of alterations to his XI on Saturday.

Here are two changes Allardyce must make to his Everton team when they host Palace…

Seamus Coleman for Jonjoe Kenny

While Kenny has been a more than able deputy at right-back for Everton this season as Coleman has returned from the horrific leg break he suffered earlier in 2017, the considerable gap between the two was really highlighted in the 2-1 win against Leicester and the 5-1 defeat against Arsenal.

Coleman made his return to the starting line-up in the former and made a huge impact from the right-hand side, linking up well with January addition Theo Walcott ahead of him.

It was a welcome sight for the Goodison Park faithful to see one of their biggest attacking threats return, while he is of course great from a defensive point of view too.

Meanwhile, Kenny returned to the XI against the Gunners but he struggled to make an impression at either end of the pitch, and Allardyce should have no hesitation in taking the 20-year-old out of the spotlight and putting the Republic of Ireland international back in against the Eagles.

Gylfi Sigurdsson for Eliaquim Mangala

Everton signed Mangala from Manchester City on loan until the end of the season on deadline day, and Allardyce changed his formation to incorporate the 26-year-old into the side against Arsenal.

The 63-year-old decided to go with a 3-4-2-1 system with Michael Keane, Ashley Williams and the left-footed Mangala as the three centre-backs, but it was an experiment that failed to pay off with the former being hauled off at half-time and the latter enduring a disaster debut.

While Allardyce may be considering taking out Keane instead of his new signing, the Frenchman's performance last time out suggests he perhaps needs a little more time to settle before being thrown in at the deep end, while Keane's strength in the air could be vital against the tall duo of Christian Benteke and Alexander Sorluth on Saturday.

According to WhoScored.com, the England international has won 65 of the 96 aerial duels he has faced in 18 Premier League matches this term, and while he isn't in the best of form that trait could be vital to helping the Toffees keep things tight at the back against the Eagles.
