Everton attacker Theo Walcott has paid tribute to Cenk Tosun after the Turkey international continued his impressive run of form with a double against Stoke City at the weekend.

Tosun joined Everton from Besiktas in the January transfer window, and the striker initially struggled to come to terms with the Premier League.

The 26-year-old has scored four times in his last three Premier League appearances for Everton, however, including twice in Saturday's 2-1 victory at Stoke.

Tosun, who has also recently been hailed by the Everton supporters, arrived at Goodison Park off the back of scoring 64 goals in 142 appearances for Besiktas, and Walcott is delighted that his teammate is now up to speed.

Walcott told Everton's official website:

"As a striker, it is all about confidence. It obviously takes time and Cenk came in January as well. I see it in training every day – he is a great finisher. I am very pleased that he got on to my ball for the second goal.

“They were both extremely good finishes and I am really pleased for him. Obviously, everyone who is going on international duty will look after themselves, as we have a busy few weeks ahead.”

Everton's 2-1 success over Stoke was just their second away Premier League win of the season, with the three points leaving them in ninth position in the table on 40 points.

Next up for Sam Allardyce's side is a home game against league leaders Manchester City on March 31.
