Lots of Everton fans on Twitter have been busy discussing reports suggesting that Championship side Stoke City are closing in on a move for Matthew Pennington.
The 24-year-old centre-back has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Leeds and Ipswich respectively, where he certainly impressed with the latter despite their relegation to League One.
Watch the best fails from the world of indoor football in the video below…
Pennington put his name up in lights with the Toffees after netting an equaliser at Anfield in the Merseyside derby, in what was one of his first few senior appearances for the club.
However, that is now a distant memory, and it seems strange that the Merseysiders keep loaning a player out who quite clearly isn’t an up and coming youngster – at 24, Pennington should really be settled somewhere.
That is a sentiment that some Everton fans on Twitter have echoed, amongst other types of responses to this strange club decision…
Must be decent loan fees to pay.. must think we can earn more from them instead of a one off transfer fee

Another loan? He should of been sold about 2 years ago!

Maybe the lad’s happier to go out on loan. Know’s he has no future at Everton but gets game time on loan, runs his contract down and then leaves on a free and negotiates his own terms with a better signing on fee

Another loan? Why not just sell him now

Why loan… again? Sell him. The best solution for Everton and player.
