Everton defender Ashley Williams has been full of praise for manager Ronald Koeman, stating the Dutchman’s style of play suits him.
Euro 2016 semi-finalist Williams arrived at Goodison Park from Swansea City over the summer and has become a crucial part of Koeman’s team on Merseyside, with the Toffees currently sat sixth in the Premier League, just four points off the top-four.
Williams is vastly experienced, boasting almost 150 Premier League appearances and a further 68 caps for Wales, but he told EvertonTV that Koeman has still managed to improve his game.
“He concentrates on the whole team, he doesn’t just specify defence. But playing in the same position he did, I can go to him with any question or query and he will know the answer or an answer, which is always nice as a player to have available to you.
“Someone like him, with so much experience, you feel secure with the knowledge that he’s giving you and you listen. You don’t question it, you just go out and do exactly what he’s asked you to do.”
The Toffees face a tough test this weekend against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where they’ll be looking to put an end to a poor run of form, whilst a run of fixtures against Williams’ former side Swansea and Koeman’s ex-employers Southampton awaits after next week’s international break.
Williams has started eight of Everton’s ten Premier League games this term, as well making another appearance off the bench, and he’ll now be looking to kick-on in the coming weeks.
