As reported by The Daily Mail, Everton are set to make a move to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere when his contract expires at the end of the season.

What's the story?

After a disappointing season, fans of the Toffees are already dreaming of the upcoming summer transfer window, excited to see if the club can do the business required to bring them consistency and help them challenge for European spots in the English Premier League.

One player they're looking at is Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

That's according to The Daily Mail, who say the Goodison Park side are ready to offer the player more than the £80,000-a-week on offer at the Emirates.

Currently rated at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, getting a player of his calibre without a transfer fee would be something of a coup for Sam Allardyce's outfit.

Can he add something they're lacking in the midfield area?

What can he offer?

Jack Wilshere has had his fair share of injury issues over the last few seasons but has for the most part stayed fit this year, making 30 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions.

His attacking drive is something that Everton lack right now in that central area and alongside old teammate Theo Walcott and Yannick Bolasie, can add a new threat through the middle to complement theirs on the flanks.

With years of elite experience he has plenty to offer a side like the Toffees and at 26 years of age is coming into his prime.

If Everton can possibly tie him down for those years, it's likely to be to their benefit.
