Everton boss looks on bright side

David Moyes refused to be too downbeat even after his Everton side had been thrashed 5-0 by Benfica in their latest Europa League game.

The Toffees were without 11 players through injury and Moyes was quick to point out that his side were still second in their group after beating AEK Athens and BATE Borisov earlier in the season.

He insisted:"I've said to the players that this is a different competition and we've had two wins and a defeat so it isn't that bad.

"It wasn't a second string defence, but some of them were playing out of position. We put out the best we had and the players did as well as they could.

"But Benfica were very good and capitalised on some mistakes we made, they took their opportunities very well.

"I think they had a good attitude and for me they showed their attacking qualities, especially in the second half.

"I thought (Angel) Di Maria was a throw-back winger and he seemed to be a very good find. I'd like to play Benfica with my best team because they're a good team."
