West Ham have welcomed a bunch of strikers to east London under co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold's supervision, but picking quality from that bunch has been something of a rarity. The last time the Hammers had a player score them 15 or more goals in a Premier League campaign was back in 1999/00 - maestro Paolo Di Canio netting 16 times. Since then, the closest anyone has come to hitting the magical 15 was Marlon Harewood - scoring 14 goals in the 2005/06 season. Both Sullivan and Gold formed a partnership at the Irons back in 2010 and the West Ham faithful have witnessed some comical forwards in that time.Below is a list of every striker to have made a first-team appearance in Claret and Blue since the co-owners took charge, not including current strikers Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti...

Benni McCarthy - 13 games, 0 goals

To say the South Africa striker struggled to make an impression in east London is an understatement. McCarthy failed to score in 14 games for the Hammers - an abysmal record in a struggling West Ham outfit back in 2010.

Mido - 9 games, 0 goals

Another striker who failed to score during his brief tenure in east London. Nine appearances wasn't enough for the Egypt forward to get on the scoresheet and moved onto Ajax after one season with the Hammers.

Ilan - 11 games, 4 goals

The first on the list to score for the Hammers. Ilan only made 11 appearances in Claret and Blue but managed to score four times. A conversion rate of 36% is extremely impressive but his time at West Ham was short-lived.

Frederic Piquionne - 62 games, 11 goals

Piquionne signed for the Hammers in 2010 and spent two seasons in east London. Throughout that period, he scored 11 goals in 62 appearances but did not make a meaningful impact on the West Ham faithful. Another 'average' striker to add to the collection, but by no means the worst.

Victor Obinna - 32 games, 8 goals

The Nigeria striker accomplished a 25% conversion rate in front of goal, netting eight times in 32 appearances for the Hammers. One season was enough, though, and Obinna swiftly moved on to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow. Not the best on the list but certainly not the worst.

Demba Ba - 13 games, 7 goals

Possibly the best striker West Ham have had during the Gold and Sullivan reign. The Senegal striker was brought to east London midway through the 2010/11 Premier League campaign in a bid to avoid the drop.

Netting seven times in 13 appearances, Ba did everything he could to help the Hammers, but his goalscoring prowess wasn't enough to stop them getting relegated. He left the following season for Newcastle United - scoring 16 Premier League goals for the Magpies.

Robbie Keane - 10 games, 2 goals

The Ireland striker made the switch from north to east London from bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but the transfer was not worthwhile. Keane provided two goals in 10 appearances in Claret and Blue, departing the following season for the MLS.

It was a cheap option at the time and he proved to be way past his prime for the Hammers.

John Carew - 21 games, 2 goals

Carew was once a prolific, goalscoring machine during his time at Aston Villa, but by the time he reached West Ham, his best days were behind him.

The Norway target-man made 21 appearances for the Hammers, netting just twice. Perhaps a 10-years younger Carew would have done the trick.

Sam Baldock - 22 games, 5 goals

Baldock spent one season with the Hammers in the Championship during their 2011/12 promotion campaign - scoring five goals in 24 appearances.

Despite his lack of goals, the England forward was young, hungry and displayed great levels of commitment during his time. Unfortunately, the quality was not there, which saw him moved on the following season to Bristol City.

Brian Montenegro - 1 game, 0 goals

To be honest, does anyone even remember this guy? He made one FA Cup appearance for the Hammers in 2011/12 and that was it. And in case your'e wondering, no, he didn't score.

Nicky Maynard - 17 games, 4 goals

Another player who failed to live up to expectations. Maynard was another who was part of the 2011/12 promotion campaign, but failed to make an overwhelming contribution.

The English striker netted four times in 17 appearances for the Hammers - another one from the list you could label as 'average'.

Ricardo Vaz Te - 61 games, 19 goals

A cult hero in east London. The man who scored the winning goal in West Ham's 2-1 play-off final win against Blackpool was a firm favourite with the fans and provided some special moments.

Scoring 19 goals in 61 appearances, the Portuguese forward was a valuable asset during their promotion season but things didn't work out in the Premier League once he suffered a long-term injury. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of the fans.

Modibo Maiga - 45 games, 7 goals

Maiga was a strange one. He had moments where he demonstrated his quality - his winning goal at White Hart Lane the most notable recognition of that.

The Mali centre-forward scored seven goals in 45 appearances for the Hammers but often failed to impress or contribute a great deal, which consequently saw him shipped to Al-Nassr in 2015.

Andy Carroll - 142 games, 34 goals

Carroll's seven-year tenure at West Ham came to an end in 2019 after running down his contract. The England striker spent over 1,000 days on the sidelines for the Hammers - ultimately preventing him from reaching the heights he had the potential to reach (ironic for someone of 6"4).

He certainly impressed in glimpses, though, netting 34 goals in 142 appearances for the Irons. If he could have stayed injury free, Carroll was the 15 goals-a-season man.

Marouane Chamakh - 3 games, 0 goals

Another example where there isn't a great deal to talk about. Shooting a blank in each of his three appearances in east London was the only contribution he made and the former Arsenal striker certainly won't be remembered fondly.

Mladen Petric - 4 games, 0 goals

Four games. Zero goals. It's safe to say that the Croatia centre-forward failed during his brief spell at West Ham.

It's difficult to put into words how bad some strikers have been for the Hammers in recent years and this is just another example of another who came and certainly did not conquer.

Carlton Cole - 56 games, 9 goals

The England forward is a true legend in east London. A modified rendition of the anthem 'Gold' by Spandau Ballet often rang around Upton Park - a way for the fans to exhibit their appreciation.

Cole only scored nine times in 56 appearances under the reign of Gold and Sullivan, but proved his worth and value to the squad for years before they took over. He always treated the club with the utmost respect, which was reciprocated with the fans.

Marco Borriello - 2 games, 0 goals

Borriello was an excellent coup for the Hammers and proved his worth during his brief tenure in east London - a statement you will never hear. Zero goals in two appearances was a reflection of his time with West Ham, failing to capture the hearts of the fanbase.

Mauro Zarate - 29 games, 7 goals

Zarate had the potential to be a fantastic player for West Ham, but a lack of consistency meant he would never prevail in a Claret and Blue shirt. The Argentina forward spent two seasons in east London, netting seven times in 29 appearances.

He displayed glimpses of talent throughout his tenure, but a failure to find consistency in his performances meant he could not succeed. The fans were fond of him, though, and will always respect what he did.

Enner Valencia - 72 games, 10 goals

The Ecuador striker blew hot and cold for the Hammers - scoring 10 goals in 72 appearances. His thunderous strike against Hull City in the Premier League was an example of what he could produce, but again, inconsistencies let him down.

Valencia formed a lethal partnership with Diafra Sakho in the 2014/15 Premier League campaign and were fourth at Christmas, but could not sustain the firepower and dropped rapidly down the table.

Diafra Sakho - 71 games, 24 goals

Chants of 'Diafra Sakho, he scores when he wants' were somewhat off the mark - netting 24 goals in 71 appearances - but his clinical nature in front of goal was something the fans were strong admirers of.

However, injuries prevented him from being a regular starter and his attitude problems towards the end of his east London career stopped the love-affair blossoming any further. One of the Hammers' best strikers in this list.

Nikica Jelavic - 14 games, 2 goals

The Croatia centre-forward was signed in the summer of 2015 but, unfortunately, is another example of disappointing signing. Jelavic scored two goals in 15 appearances for the Hammers and failed to make a meaningful impression in east London.

He was a hard worker, though, and his commitment to the cause was impressive, but not enough to keep him at the club for long - shipped to China in 2016.

Emmanuel Emenike - 16 games, 2 goals

Emmanuel Emenike playing for West Ham

The Nigeria striker bagged two goals in 16 appearances for West Ham - both goals coming in a 5-1 FA Cup win against Blackburn Rovers. The powerful forward was lightning-quick, but his technical ability and composure in front of goal limited his involvement during his tenure.

Toni Martinez - 3 games, 0 goals

Martinez failed to live up to the hype - that he could be the new youngster to emerge onto the first-team scene - and, consequently, was not granted a new contract with the club this summer.

The Spain forward made three, brief appearances in the first-team setup, but did not manage to bag himself a goal. It was a shame that he did not work out in east London, but his attitude and desire to come through the ranks was noted and respected by the Hammers fans.

Ashley Fletcher - 20 games, 1 goal

Fletcher is another example of a hard-working youngster who simply did not have enough quality to mould into a Premier League outfit. Netting one time in 18 appearances, the England striker did not inherit the goalscoring prowess needed to thrive at the top, but his determination and willingness was superb.

Jonathan Calleri - 19 games, 1 goal

The Argentina forward suffered the same fate as the majority of the list have. Calleri only scored once in 19 appearances for the Hammers, and his quality in the final third was sub-par to say the least.

Another trier, but ultimately, another failure.

Simone Zaza - 11 games, 0 goals

Zaza was notoriously known for his 'stutter penalty' for Italy in the 2016 Euros, so why wouldn't he end up at West Ham? The Italy forward failed to score in 11 appearances in east London; his time in England came to an inevitable, premature end.

The Irons fans were promised a top-quality striker when they moved to London Stadium and out came Zaza - an overwhelming disappointment.

Marko Arnautovic - 65 games, 22 goals

The Austrian recorded 22 goals in 65 appearances in east London and is the best striker West Ham have had in years. Arnautovic was transformed into a centre-forward under the leadership of David Moyes - a successful transition that re-evolved him into a goalscoring machine.

Unfortunately, he parted ways in bitter circumstances but did provide the fans with excellent moments in his two-year tenure.

Javier Hernandez - 61 games, 16 goals

Chicharito is not the most popular figure in east London but his goalscoring statistics are solid. In 65 appearances for the Hammers, the Mexican striker has netted 22 times.

Hernandez was brought to London Stadium to become the striker the Irons have craved since the days of Di Canio and Tony Cottee, but attitude and commitment issues coupled with lack of gametime has prevented him from doing so.

Jordan Hugill - 3 games, 0 goals

Jordan Hugill in action for West Ham United

The England striker signed for the Hammers for £9m in January 2018, scoring a grand total of zero goals in three appearances. His tenure at West Ham was short-lived, but again, his attitude was excellent.

Unfortunately, Hugill never got to walk out with the bubbles which is a real shame, not just for him, but the footballing world.

Lucas Perez - 19 games, 6 goals

The Spain forward moved to London Stadium last summer but did not impress in a Claret and Blue shirt. He did have a respectable goalscoring record, though, netting six times in 19 appearances.

The £4m signing from Arsenal struggled to cement a first-team position, especially with Arnautovic and Hernandez ahead of him in the pecking order and one season was enough as he parted ways with the Hammers last summer for Deportivo Alaves.
