Ex-Liverpool star Lucas mocks Manchester United’s cup exit

When a player signs for Liverpool, they discover fairly quickly that Manchester United are their ultimate enemies.

Lucas Leiva knew the rivalry inside out considering that he spent 10 years playing at Anfield.

The Brazilian is no longer part of the Liverpool fold as he opted to join Lazio in the summer, but he still regards United as the enemy, if his latest tweet is anything to go by.

The 30-year-old revelled in the Red Devils’ quarter-final defeat in the EFL Cup.

Jose Mourinho’s side were favourites to progress into the final four as they faced Championship outfit Bristol City.

However, Lee Johnson’s side caused an upset as they claimed a 2-1 victory at Ashton Gate thanks to a 93rd-minute winner by Korey Smith.

Initially, it seemed that United had taken the tie to extra time thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s equaliser, but the Robins failed to give up and they were eventually rewarded.

Like many Liverpool fans, Lucas took great pleasure in the result and he did not hide his feelings on Twitter.
