The international break is not a favoured time of the year for football fans but there is sometimes intriguing battles that present themselves, just like last night’s friendly between Holland and Belgium.
Unfortunately, the match failed to live up to his hype, finishing 1-1, but Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum was one of the better performers on the night and his performances did not go unnoticed by Reds fans keeping track of the match.
Benefitting from Jurgen Klopp’s style of football since his summer transfer from Newcastle United, Wijnaldum has been playing full of confidence and continued in that fashion when representing his nation last night.
Having scored his first goal for the Reds at the weekend, Wijnaldum enters the international break in good standing and displayed positive moments last night, in a match where Davy Klaasen gave the Dutch the lead before Yannick-Ferreira Carrasco equalised for the Red Devils.
Thankfully, Wijnaldum got through the match without injury, though he still has a World Cup qualifier to get through against Luxembourg this weekend, but fans were left pleased he remained fit.
Yay Wijnaldum comes out the match unharmed

The only joy I'm getting from Netherlands vs Belgium is that both Mignolet and Wijnaldum aren't injured.

Who would have thought in August @lfc fans would be worrying about Georginio Wijnaldum getting injured on international duty
