If the Metro’s sources are to be believed then Alex Ferguson’s pursuit of Roma’s Daniele de Rossi could be successful this summer.
The Italian international has been tracked by the Manchester United boss since he first made his break through to the first team on the 10th October 2001. Sir Alex views de Rossi as the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes, should the former England international retire.
Manchester City are also believed to be in the hunt for the 27 year old, with City’s scout Barry Hunt having made numerous trips to the Stadio Olimpico since the New Year.
With de Rossi’s current contract situation a deal in the region of £14 million could be on the cards, a snip at the 35 million Euros the Italian would have cost Chelsea if they had firmed up their interest a couple of seasons ago.
