With results, on the whole, not having gone Arsenal’s way on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, the Gunners entered their clash with Crystal Palace outside of the top four. Given that a few weeks ago the north London club were being talked about as one of the strongest title contenders in the division, Arsene Wenger really needed a win against Sam Allardyce’s Eagles, and that’s exactly what he got.

Arsenal were utterly dominant at the Emirates Stadium, enjoying 64% of the possession while playing almost twice as many passes as their opponents, and goals from Olivier Giroud – a contender for Goal of the Season – and Alex Iwobi secured three points that moved the club back up to third in the table and within nine points of leaders Chelsea.

It was not the most competitive of matches and Arsenal will face firmer tests throughout 2017, but here are FIVE great pictures from a pretty enthralling game…
