Five Premier League managers leading the sack race

Apart from the race for the title and escape from the drop, the Premier League also has another competition as an interesting sub-plot… and that is the race from the sack.

Every season, we see a big boss get axed from their helm, and there hasn’t been one bigger this term yet than Jose Mourinho’s £30million release from Chelsea back in December.

Why was it controversial? Well ‘the Special One’ just guided the Blues to their fourth Premier League title by dominating the division. It was also his third English crown with the Stamford Bridge club, meaning 75% of their league success was down to his appointment.

Yet, the board seemed to have no other choice than letting him go, as it was easier to fire one manager than five+ players.

A month later, and there are several other gaffers’ heads also on the chopping block … with Ryan Bailey telling you the Top Five currently set for a nervy second half of the season.
