The football is coming thick and fast after a two-week international break, and the Premier League will once again take up our weekends. With eight games played we’re really beginning to get a feel for the runners and riders in the title race and those teams that will be battling against the drop come May.
The games last weekend were entertaining to say the least with incident and intrigue aplenty, and looking ahead to the coming few days, there may well be a few more enthralling spectacles.
Once of the big questions facing football fans up and down the country remains who to put on the obligatory weekend acca. Well, if you’re struggling we have some hot tips for you here.
Arsenal – 1/4
With six wins on the bounce to their name, Arsenal will be full of confidence heading into their clash with Middlesbrough. Aitor Karanka’s Boro have managed just the one win in league action this season, so it’s unlikely they’ll travel to the Emirates Stadium with much confidence.
Stoke – 7/5
Stoke have not enjoyed the most fruitful of starts to the Premier League season, but a 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend will surely have boosted confidence at Bet365 Stadium. And we think they will make it two from two as they travel to Hull, who have shipped 17 goals in their last four outings.
West Ham - 4/6
Another team we’re backing to make it two wins from two is West Ham. The Irons beat Crystal Palace last time out and now host rock-bottom Sunderland, who remain the only side in the division still searching for a win.
Liverpool 1/4
Liverpool were held 0-0 at home by Manchester United on Monday and have the perfect chance to get their title hopes back on course by hosting West Brom. The Baggies have drawn their last three games against the Reds, but it’s hard to see this Jurgen Klopp’s team not scoring for a second successive game, and with West Brom having only netted nine thus far, they may struggle to keep pace.
Manchester City – 9/20
Manchester City’s recent run of form has been less than impressive, but a home clash against Southampton is teed up for them to get back to winning ways. The Saints will be no pushovers, but the Citizens are likely to be led by a fresh Sergio Aguero, who didn’t start the midweek loss in Barcelona.
