Former Manchester United striker and Premier League winner Robin van Persie is taking the Turkish league by storm.
Van Persie, who left the Premier League leaders this summer, joined Fenerbahçe in a move reportedly worth £3.84million.
Despite coverage of the Turkish Süper Lig being rather poor in the United Kingdom, news of the former Arsenal man is still filtering through.
Van Persie scored an equaliser for his new club in the Istanbul derby defeat to Besiktas. This was however the first time that Fenerbahçe have lost the derby since March 2013.
The equaliser was made even more remarkable by the fact that the Dutch international had only come off the bench a mere four minutes before his goal. Van Persie is expected to start against Celtic this week in the Champions League.
Elsewhere, Brendan Rodgers is fighting for his job on Merseyside. Despite the 3-2 weekend victory over Aston Villa, failure to beat Carlisle over 90 minutes in the Capital One Cup third round last week has raised alarm bells at the club.
With Jurgen Klopp waiting in the wings to take over, Rodgers has acknowledged that he is under pressure at Anfield.
