Some shocking news is breaking from France this afternoon.
French daily newspaper Nice Matin have reported this afternoon that former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur star David Ginola has suffered a heart attack and has been hospitalised.
According to the paper, Ginola, 49, was taking part in a golf tournament with other sporting personalities on Thursday morning and is said to have taken ill at Mandelieu football stadium in the French Riviera.
It is reported that he was in an unconscious but stable condition and was airlifted to a hospital in Monaco for further treatment.
Ginola spent seven years in England after moving from Paris Saint-Germain to Newcastle in 1995. He made 58 appearances for the Magpies before moving to Tottenham Hotspur, then turning out for Aston Villa and briefly for Everton before calling time on a glittering career.
More recently Ginola has appeared as a pundit on British TV, occasionally covering Ligue 1 and the Champions League for BT Sport.
We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him on our TV screens again very soon.
