Fulham are considering a loan deal for Marseille’s want-away midfielder Morgan Amalfitano this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The 28-year-old is at a career crossroads after two frustrating years in the south of France and is understood to be keen on trying his luck in England – where his younger brother Romain plays for Newcastle.
He currently has two years left on his current deal and Fulham boss Martin Jol is keen to bring him in on loan for a season before trying to seal his permanent signature in a cut-price deal next year.
Chief scout Barry Simmonds had alerted Fulham to Amalfitano when he left Lorient and tried to broker a deal then, but the player was keen on testing himself in the Champions League and opted for Marseille instead.
However, he slapped a transfer request in last summer when Marseille, who he had made 49 appearances for in all competitions, failed to qualify for the competition.
The stylish midfielder has shown flashes of temper during his time in Marseille and was banned for two matches for an on-field spat with PSG’s Blaise Matuidi last season.
