Fulham have confirmed the signing of Lazar Markovic from Liverpool, per their official website.

What's the word?

Markovic moves to Fulham after a miserable spell at Anfield. Signed in 2014 for a £20million fee from Benfica, Markovic has struggled to make an impact on Merseyside.

During his five-year stay at the club, the winger played just 34 times and was repeatedly sent out on loan, per Transfermarkt.

The 24-year-old played for Fenerbahce, Sporting CP, Hull City and Anderlecht in that time, and will now attempt to help the Cottagers avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Claudio Ranieri's men are currently 19th, six points behind 17th-placed Burnley.

Fulham claim in their statement announcing Markovic's signing that they "received very good recommendations from Aleksandar Mitrovic regarding the player".

Markovic, who has won 22 caps for Serbia, will now join with his compatriot at Craven Cottage.

Mitrovic has scored ten goals thus far this season and linking up with Markovic could see him further elevate his already prolific vein of form.

It could also provide a big boost to Markovic himself, who has looked completely bereft of confidence ever since his arrival on Merseyside.

The club needs to start winning games soon if they are to stay up and putting the two Serbian stars together could end up being a recipe for survival.
