Gareth Southgate has made his first major decision ahead of the World Cup, naming Tottenham star Harry Kane as the man who will captain England for the tournament in Russia this summer.
The naming of a captain feels like something fans in this country take more seriously than supporters around the world and the fact of the matter is that the Three Lions will need more than one leader to step up if they are to make an unlikely splash when the tournament kicks off next month.
The only realistic challenger to the Spurs ace, who has 23 caps for his country was Jordan Henderson, who is a unique case in the sense that he is a fairly uninspiring player, not certain of his starting berth in the England side but who could also be the Champions League winning skipper by Saturday night.
Gary Cahill, Eric Dier and Joe Hart are among those who have worn the armband under Southgate so we’re asking you whether Southgate made the right decision in appointing Kane?
Let us know by voting in the poll below and keep your eyes peeled for the result as the excitement builds ahead of the big kick-off in Russia…
