It's been a difficult season for Dele Alli. The Tottenham midfielder started last term slowly as well, but amid the backdrop of changing agents it feels as if his head isn't quite in the game in the same way as during his first two seasons in north London.

That perhaps explains why Mauricio Pochettino left out the England international, who Transfermarkt value at £54million, for Tottenham's last Premier League clash - a 2-0 win over Brighton. It could well be the reminder that he's not indispensable Alli needs to quickly rediscover his best form.

But the Lilywhites are now preparing for their toughest test of the season so far - an away trip to the Etihad Stadium where they'll face Pep Guardiola's record-setting Manchester City side.

On the one hand, Mauricio Pochettino would want his best players on the pitch for such a difficult game. On the other, Tottenham really can't afford any passengers against a team that has destroyed everything in their path this season.

So, Spurs fans, would you start Alli at the Etihad? Let us know by voting below...
