When Everton signed Sam Allardyce at the end of November to lift the Toffees away from the relegation mire, the 18-month contract he was given by owner Farhad Moshiri was a sign that the veteran Premier League manager was never a long-term fix on Merseyside.

Reports are now confirming that, regardless of whether Allardyce is able to guide Everton away from the drop, Moshiri is planning to hire a younger, more dynamic coach in the summer.

Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca, who was touted for the job in October when Everton sacked Ronald Koeman, is understood to be among those being considered by the Everton owner.

The Toffees are also after higher-hanging fruit in the form of Atletico Madrid gaffer Diego Simeone, who has led the club to the Champions League final, and former Barcelona winger and manager Luis Enrique.

Simeone signed a contract extension with Madrid in the summer, but the fact that his name is in the conversation is a sign that Moshiri is serious about starting an exciting new era for Everton.

What do Toffees fans think though? Which of these ambitious managerial targets would you prefer?
