HYS: Who should partner Lucas Torreira in midfield against Chelsea?

After impressing in a cameo role from the bench against Manchester City last weekend, Lucas Torreira could well get the nod to start for Arsenal when they make the trip to Chelsea on Saturday.

His nippiness in midfield will be key to stifling Eden Hazard’s influence, and the Uruguay international is exactly the kind of player the Gunners have desperately lacked in the middle of the park over the last few years.

The only conundrum for Unai Emery is who to start alongside Arsenal’s summer signing, assuming the new Gunners gaffer will stick with his trusted 4-2-3-1 setup.

Granit Xhaka – who Transfermarkt value at £36million – certainly didn’t convert many critics with an almost anonymous display against City, whereas youngster Matteo Guendouzi endured a mixed debut that showed both his qualities and his flaws.

66-cap Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny was left on the bench last Sunday but is well-suited to the deep-lying role while Aaron Ramsey could theoretically play there as well, although it would diminish much of what he offers the north Londoners going forward.

So, Arsenal fans, who would you start at the base of midfield alongside Torreira this weekend, assuming the South American makes his full Premier League debut? Let us know by voting below…
