HYS: Who should start on the left wing for Manchester United against Spurs?

Manchester United travel to Wembley Stadium on Sunday to take on Mauricio Pochettino’s in-form Tottenham Hotspur side.

The clash represents the biggest test of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time in charge of the Red Devils so far, and the interim boss has some huge selection calls to make ahead of this match.

One of the key positions Solskjaer has to get right is the left winger berth. United are likely to have to endure periods of intense pressure being exerted on their defence, so Solskjaer’s front line will have to be able to contribute towards the team’s defensive effort.

However, the Norwegian coach will be going into this game wanting to win it, so whoever takes up the left flank will be expected to pose a threat to Spurs’ rearguard.

Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez are the two most likely options. Although Martial has been in fine form so far this season, Solskjaer ought to be bold and make the surprising call to give the Chilean the nod on Sunday. Sanchez can perform his defensive dues but also has the potential to devastate the Spurs back line.

Sanchez is a big game player and Sunday is a big game in the context of United’s season. What’s more, the 30-year-old has the capacity to run Kieran Trippier ragged. The Tottenham full-back has been inconsistent this season and Sanchez’s pace, movement and flair could be his undoing.

What do you think, United fans, who should be Solskjaer’s starting left-winger on Sunday?
