Everton will be without James McCarthy when they host Liverpool in the Merseyside derby this weekend after he picked up yet another injury, Daily Mail reports.
The 24-year-old has been out since December and could spend more time on the sidelines after picking up yet another injury while training.
He is now being tipped to miss both the clashes against the Reds as well as Chelsea in midweek after suffering four consecutive knocks to his hamstring since November.
McCarthy has been one of the stand-out performers for Roberto Martinez before he suffered the first of his many injury problems.
His form had even alerted Arsenal ahead of the January window, linking the central midfielder with a switch to the Emirates in order to fill the anchorman role Arsene Wenger was so desperately searching for.
Other than the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur were also considering a move for the Toffees’ midfield man at the start of the window, but Martinez later ruled out the possibility of a switch to the two interested parties.
