Is this the biggest blow to Chelsea’s title charge?

Genuinely forgot John Obi Mikel was at Chelsea. However, the Nigerian international midfielder comes into the Blues’ starting line-up for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Mikel replaces the suspended Nemanja Matic, and that is some big shoes to fill with the Serbian international seen as the man to finally replace Claude Makelele with his strong, sensible and industrious consistency.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to fazed by Matic’s absence – and who can blame him with Chelsea’s ridiculous squad depth – with the Portguese manager saying in his Friday press conference:

“We trust other people and we forget about Matic,”

“He has a little bit of a holiday, a free weekend which he deserves very much, so he will return stronger.”

Come 2:30(ish)pm today, we will know just how important Matic is to this Chelsea side but Twitter seems to think the Blues will struggle with Mikel in the middle of the park against the Magpies’ Moussa Sissoko.
