Leicester City were the darlings of the Premier League last season, incredibly lifting the title in May, and they’ve shown similar strength in their Champions League endeavours so far by winning all three of their matches – putting them just one victory away from the knockout stages.
Two men were crucial to Leicester’s brilliant rise last season and both secured their names in Foxes folklore forever more. Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were the stars of the show for Claudio Ranieri’s side, in case you’ve already forgotten
English striker Vardy set a Premier League record for scoring in consecutive matches and his partnership with Mahrez last term tore the Premier League apart, and their performances were heralded by France Football yesterday, who named the pair in their 2016 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo, it shows just how far the pair have come and it’s tremendous recognition for their efforts in the previous calendar year.
Twitter was naturally inundated with comments on the double act with jokes, stats and loads more – and we’ve gathered a selection for you here.

It was only last Christmas Jamie Vardy bought his wife a bottle of Ballon d'Or from Fragrancentre on Leicester Market. What a 10 months.
