When John Stones completed his record breaking switch from Everton to Manchester City in the summer, many will have immediately noted him down as a definite pick for their Fantasy Premier League team.
He has improved his game under Pep Guardiola, there’s no doubting it, but an improved footballer doesn’t always translate in to big FPL points returns.
And Stones is a prime example of that. The England international is a cheap defensive option at just £5.0m, which arguably explains why he is selected by a huge 27.7% of FPL teams.
But that seems a little high when you consider he has returned just 12 FPL points from his opening eight Premier League games of the season, and he is yet to register a clean sheet for City.
For this reason, you should probably consider replacing him with someone who is more likely to nab you points.

Most of them are more expensive than Stones, so you may need to rejig other areas of your side to fit one of them in, but it could be worth the hassle in the long run…
