The 26-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic season at Turin’s other major club, but Juventus are confident they can convince him to move across the city in the summer.
Cerci is comfortable on either flank in a 4-3-3 system, and has managed 11 goals so far this season.
Both Manchester clubs have registered an interest, and both had scouts present to watch him in action during Italy’s friendly with Nigeria towards the back end of last year.
Former City boss Roberto Mancini attempted to sign him during his reign at the Etihad, and the club have retained an interest since.
Meanwhile David Moyes is set to invest heavily in new players to strengthen United in the summer, and has identified Cerci as an option, with current wingers Nani and Ashley Young failing to impress.
But reports in Italy suggest both clubs could miss out on his signature, with Juventus the favourites to sign the £16million-rated wide man.
