Paul Pogba has revealed he was the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea during the summer, but claimed his love for Juventus prevented him from making a return to England, reports the Daily Express.
The former Manchester United youngster found himself heavily linked with the Gunners during the final week of the transfer window, and has now revealed that Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea also showed a keen interest in his services.
But the French international claims a move to London was never on the cards as he has always harboured an ambition of playing for the Turin giants.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia he said: “Juventus? I’ve liked them ever since I was a kid, always supported them.
“This club means so much to the French. The best French players have played here and that is why I liked it.”
Such was Pogba’s affection for the Old Lady, he revealed even an intervention from Sir Alex Ferguson could not stop him making the move to Italy.
“Ferguson tried to stop me leaving Manchester United but was unsuccessful,” he added.
And it was that same affection that prevented a potential return to England this summer.
“Were there other clubs chasing me? Yes, but I had my mind only on Juventus.
“At the time I heard of interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, and in Italy AC Milan, but there is no one like Juve.
“As for my future? I’m glad to be here. I want to win as many trophies as I can in this shirt.”
