During Garry Monk's time in charge of Leeds United last season, the 38-year-old has assistant coach Pep Clotet by his side.

Not long after the former left Elland Road at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, his backroom staff member followed.

Rather than continue working with Monk, Clotet took on the manager's job at League One outfit Oxford United.

During his spell in charge, the Spaniard oversaw 10 wins, eight draws and 11 defeats in the third tier.

Following back-to-back defeats to Walsall and Bury, a managerial change was made by the U's, who currently sit 10th in the league table.

Since the news of Clotet's sacking was announced, Leeds fans have tweeted various reactions.

Some have expressed sympathy for their former assistant coach, while others have rubbed salt into the wound.

A handful have even called on the board to replace current manager Thomas Christiansen with Clotet.

Meanwhile, in the Championship, Leeds reside in 10th place following a four-game winless run.
