Ben White has been exceptional for Leeds United this season.
In fact, it seems as if his parent club knew exactly how good he was when they sent him out on loan as Glenn Murray delivered his verdict on his teammate.
Murray was speaking on the pre-match build-up of Leeds vs Reading (Sky Sports 26/11, 7:30 PM), and understandably, Brighton’s vice-captain was asked about White.

Murray said: “It’s absolutely no surprise to me, not long ago we were training at Brighton and he’d often step in front of me, and I’d be like ‘who is this kid?’
“He’s gone out and done fantastic at Leeds, and he’s stepped into some big boots with Pontus Jansson leaving at the end of last season. He’s stepped in there and led by example at such a tender age.
“He’s agile, he’s very very composed on the ball, and I think that’s why Bielsa likes him. But we think very highly of him at Brighton.”
While it’s no surprise to hear Murray waxing lyrical about the centre-back after his impressive start to the season, it’s his final comments that may sting Leeds fans.
The United fanbase have been clamouring for the club to sign White on a permanent basis, but with Murray saying that Brighton think highly of him it seems unlikely that this deal could be reached, or at least not cheaply.
Murray’s comment seems to indicate that Brighton know exactly what they’ve got with White, and with Noel Whelan recently saying that he thinks he’s just as good as John Stones, you can’t imagine that they’ll be willing to let him go easily.
