Brentford were unable to close the gap on Leeds United in the Championship standings as they suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to bottom-of-the-table Luton Town on Tuesday night.
As a result, the Bees are now fifth in the division, six points behind second-placed Leeds, who go to Middlesbrough this evening.
And it would be fair to say that a number of the Whites’ supporters were delighted to see one of their rivals for promotion suffer a disappointing loss.
Many took their comments straight to Brentford’s official Twitter account.
THE BEES, BEES ARE FALLING APART AGAIN. THE BEES, BEES ARE FALLING APART AGAIN. THE BEES, BEES ARE FALLING APART AGAIN. 😂😂😂 #BrentfordFC

Others, meanwhile, simply posted messages showing their delight at the result.
West Bromwich Albion did triumph once again, though, with the Baggies beating Preston North End 2-0 to continue their charge towards the Premier League.
Slaven Bilic’s side are now seven points clear of Leeds, although Marcelo Bielsa’s side will have the chance to cut the gap when they take on 21st-placed Boro at the Riverside Stadium.
Incredible result for Luton. Played like a team that really wants to see Leeds United promoted.

Leeds fell short in their battle for promotion last season but back-to-back wins since their 1-1 draw with Brentford has placed Bielsa’s side in a strong position.
Meanwhile, a number of the club’s fans have been reacting to an article from journalist Phil Hay on Pablo Hernandez.
