Ray Parlour stated that he thought they’d be very strong, but another TalkSPORT pundit believes that Marcelo Bielsa’s side would struggle upon promotion.

What’s been said then?

The radio station uploaded the clip of Ian Abrahams talking about Leeds’ chances in the top-flight on Twitter.

The pundit argued that Leeds ‘aren’t a Wolves or a Sheffield United’ and stated that they’d struggle in the Premier League with their current squad. However, this is simply a laughable statement to make.

Parallels

Leeds don’t have the financial backing of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side who spent £80m+ last summer, or their connections to super-agent Jorge Mendes, but there are huge parallels between them and their Yorkshire rivals.

Both Leeds and Sheffield United had squads full of overperforming players that had spent their careers lumbering in the Championship before they were buoyed by an incredibly talented manager, and there’s no reason why Bielsa can’t have a similar effect to Chris Wilder in the Premier League.

Wilder still has players like Chris Basham and Enda Stevens at his disposal but that doesn't appear to matter when a highly skilled coach and man manager is at the helm.

He argues that they’d need to spend, but which newly-promoted team doesn’t? Even Sheffield United who are using a similar lineup to the one they’d use weekly in the Championship broke their transfer record three times over last summer.

Yes, Leeds would need to spend, but luckily promotion brings a huge windfall, meaning that the Whites would be able to splash the cash in the transfer window.

In other news, Danny Pugh has stated that Leeds “can’t go wrong” if they sign on reported target.
