According to the Daily Mail, former West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho wants to secure a return to England, and is open to moving to the Championship before the end of August.

What's the word, then?

Sakho turned out for West Ham between 2014 and 2018  - scoring 24 times in 71 appearances for the Hammers before making the move to Rennes.

The centre-forward left West Ham on poor terms after effectively forcing a move away from the club, but it has not worked out at Rennes.

Indeed, Sakho has only scored three times in 16 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, and was an unused substitute in their 2-2 draw with Marseille last weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, Sakho - valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt - is eyeing a return to England before the end of the month, and a number of Championship clubs are closely monitoring developments.

Leeds United could still do with another centre-forward to boost their squad for the 2018-19 campaign, and head coach Marcelo Bielsa should look to bring Sakho to Elland Road.

Does the deal make sense for Leeds?

Despite interest from abroad, the Daily Mail have claimed that Sakho wants to join an ambitious Championship club in hope of helping them back into the Premier League.

Leeds certainly fall into that category, and for all Sakho's problems at West Ham, he managed 18 Premier League goals during his time with the Hammers.

Sakho's first campaign in England brought 12 goals in 26 appearances, meanwhile, and at the age of 28, would bring experience and knowhow to the Leeds frontline this season.

Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford have both impressed for Leeds in the early stages of the 2018-19 campaign, but the arrival of Sakho on a loan deal is a no-brainer for the Whites.

Indeed, Bielsa should do all he can to bring the striker to Elland Road before the loan deadline on Friday afternoon.
