Leeds have been in desperate need of a new striker since Eddie Nketiah's loan spell came to an end and it seems that the club is a step closer to finding that replacement.

According to Football Insider they will hold a medical with Manchester City youngster Ian Poveda, with a view to signing the attacker on a permanent, long-term deal.

Poveda could be very useful to the Whites due to his ability to play on either flank as well as up-front, though the fact he has made just one senior appearance casts some doubt about his ability to help his possible new team.

Despite that, some fans like what they have seen from the player despite their limited viewing potential, and that means a similar update on the same player by TeamTalk has been well-received.

Frustrations at a lack of deal for Che Adams mean that supporters will likely be grateful for any incoming at this stage, particularly because the team is on a run of just one win in seven games.

A deal for Poveda was recently cast into doubt, too. The Daily Mail had first reported interest in him from Parma and Torino, with TuttoSport recently suggesting that the City player was set for a meeting with the representatives of the latter.

As a result, any update regarding a move to Leeds is a bonus, and has caused some supporters to become more urgent for the signing to be completed, as they would probably hate for the club to lose out again.

Phil Hay recently offered another interesting update on the possibility of another arrival coming to Leeds, which prompted quite the reaction from fans.
