A legend of the club: Leicester fans bid farewell to Shinji Okazaki

Leicester City had a busy day in terms of major announcements on Wednesday with the club confirming Christian Fuchs has signed a new deal before it was revealed that Shinji Okazaki and Danny Simpson are to depart the club.

All three players were crucial during the Foxes’ memorable Premier League triumph.

Okazaki was a thorn in a host of sides during their remarkable season in 2015/16 and established a tricky partnership alongside Jamie Vardy.

However, after Leicester’s final game with Chelsea this weekend, he will no longer be a Foxes player.

Tributes poured in for the Japanese striker who was dubbed a club legend and one of the immortals by two fans on Twitter.

Another supporter said they’d miss Okazaki’s smile whilst a further individual thanked him for all of the goals he scored. One fan chose to focus on a sensational bicycle kick he found the net with against Newcastle.

In total, the Japan international has featured 136 times for the Midlands club, scoring 19 goals.

Here’s the best of the reaction to the news he will be leaving in the summer…
