Claude Puel says he is open to the prospect of keeping Youri Tielemans at the club beyond the expiration of his loan deal at the end of the season.

Leicester completed the signing of Tielemans from AS Monaco on loan on deadline day, with Adrien Silva moving the other way, per BBC.

What's the word?

Tielemans moves to Leicester after a season of frustration at Monaco.

The French club are currently second-from-bottom in Ligue 1, having won just three games all season.

Tielemans made 30 appearances in all competitions for Monaco prior to his move, per Transfermarkt.

And Puel says he hopes that the Belgium international, who has won 19 caps for his country, proves his worth before a potential permanent deal.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he's still got it! Check out the video below...

Per BBC (14:40 & 14:43), he said: "I am looking forward to working with him. He is different to Adrien but can play box to box as well and give better balance in the team to attack. He gives us other options.

"He has a good shot also and he is a clinical player, he can score and assist. He is an intelligent player. It is good for us to have him in the squad.

"He is here for the moment for a loan and the only focus for him and us is to have a good understanding and then see after. We will see how he has adapted at the end of the season, and how Adrien has played at Monaco."

Wise recruitment

Leicester are being smart in the transfer window.

Signing Tielemans, initially on loan, offers Puel the chance to see if he can fit in with the Foxes' style of play before committing to a potentially expensive transfer.

Indeed, as a full international with the pedigree of playing in one of the top leagues in Europe, Tielemans would not have come cheap.

It works for Tielemans, too, as he can prove his worth in the Premier League and potentially heighten his own value, sparking something of a bidding war for his services in the summer.

If this loan deal works out, it is a win-win.
