Harry Maguire has suggested that he will turn down interest from elsewhere to continue his Leicester City journey, with The Sun claiming that the England international is ready to reject Manchester City to stay at the King Power Stadium.

What's the story?

Maguire has been quoted as saying by the Leicester Mercury:

“I knew when I joined Leicester it was a big team, a big club in the Premier League.

“We have got a good owner who wants the club to move forward and upwards, instead of looking below us.

“I know the club is on an upward curve and, hopefully, I will be a part of that for the future.”

The 24-year-old joined Leicester from Hull City last summer, and the centre-back has quickly developed into one of the most impressive performers in the Premier League.

Leicester paid just £17m to acquire the former Sheffield United youngster, but it is understood that his value now sits at £50m.

Man City are one of a number of clubs to be credited with an interest in Maguire, but it seems that the classy defender will be staying at Leicester for some time yet.

How good can Maguire become?

Now a three-time England international, Maguire is widely expected to be a part of Gareth Southgate's squad that travels to the 2018 World Cup this summer.

He was outstanding for Hull last term, and that form has continued into this season, with Maguire combining defensive qualities with a calmness in possession of the ball.

The defender would not look out of place at Man City, Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal, and it might well be difficult for Leicester to keep Maguire for the long haul.

That said, his latest comments suggest that the Sheffield-born star wants to stay at the King Power Stadium for at least the next few years.

It has been some journey from the Sheffield United academy to England international, and there is every reason to believe that Maguire will continue to improve in the coming years.
