There was very little to write home about – in terms of on the pitch action – after England’s 0-0 Nations League draw with Croatia, played behind closed doors in Rijeka on Friday night. However, one of the few standout displays on the night came courtesy of Ben Chilwell.
The England left-back was making his first ever start for the Three Lions and produced a fine performance that will have put him in contention to be first choice ahead of the likes of Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Danny Rose.
The Leicester City defender was defensively solid against Croatia, comfortable and assured in possession, and regularly one of England’s most energetic and creative attacking threats. Those are the qualities that he has regularly been displaying at the King Power Stadium recently too.
After Chilwell’s triumphant night, many Foxes fans took to Twitter to congratulate the 21-year-old on his strong showing. Check out some of the reaction below…

Claude Puel has had his critics (me included) but you can’t deny that he has gave youth a chance & he’s made Harry Maguire & Ben Chilwell England Internationals, while James Maddison makes the bench. #lcfc
