Jamie Vardy – the greatest of all time?
Ok, probably not. But the greatest in Leicester City’s recent history? No doubt.
The 28-year-old’s rise from non-league hitman to Premier League record holder and England international is nothing short of incredible. Six years ago Vardy was banging the goals in for Stocksbridge Park Steels in the Northern Premier League Division One. Three weeks ago he equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record of scoring in 11 consecutive games.
And if you add to that the four England caps he now has to his name and you can see why the entire country have been fascinated by Vardy’s Roy of the Rovers style rise to the very top of the game.
But while Leicester bid to honour their main man by released limited edition Jamie Vardy Walkers crisps, the guys over at PredictTheSix.com want to go one further and convince the Foxes to erect a statue of the great man outside the King Power Stadium.
They’ve started a petition and need as many signatures as possible to ensure Vardy gets the recognition he deserves this season. Whats more, if they get enough signatures for Leicester to agree to take action, our friends over at PredictTheSix.com have agreed to donate £10,000 to the cause.
It’s a superb cause for a wonderful striker with an incredible story. So get your name down on that petition here – www.StatueForVardy.com – and use the hashtag #StatueForVardy on Twitter to help raise awareness.
We’re behind it, are you?
