Leicester City have secured the signature of exciting midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice.
The 24-year-old has signed a four-year deal at the King Power Stadium for what is believed to be a fee of around £13m (L’Equipe), and becomes the Premier League champions’ third summer signing after Ron-Robert Zieler and Luis Hernandez.
The central midfielder is rated as one of the most promising stars in France and helped Nice to an impressive fourth place finish in Ligue 1 last term.
Mendy has previously worked under Claudio Ranieri at AS Monaco, where he played a huge role in the club’s promotion back to Ligue 1 during the 2012/2013 season.
And Mendy has said that he is very much looking forward to working under the Italian again.
He said: “I know the coach [Claudio Ranieri], I know his mentality and I know his philosophy.
“I am very happy to come to Leicester City. The team has just enjoyed a great season and it’s excellent to be here.”
Last season Mendy contributed one goal and an assist for Nice, as well as registering 69.8 successful passes per game and a hugely impressive 92% pass completion rate.
