What must’ve been going through James Maddison’s head as he watched Harry Wilson smash in that incredible free-kick against Manchester City?
Over the past 12 months the Leicester City midfielder has built up a reputation of being the league’s number one dead-ball specialist, but that crown may be slipping away from him.
Indeed, Maddison scored more free-kicks than anyone else in the division last term, but that was before Wilson came onto the scene.
Much like the former Norwich man, Wilson has been cutting his teeth in the Championship over the past few seasons where he has produced banger after banger – including five free-kicks last term.
He’s scored more goals from outside the box than any other player in England since the start of last season, and his second strike of this campaign certainly caught the eye of Maddison.

Maddison posted a series of emojis that could be conveyed in a couple of different ways.
The midfielder was either admiring the strike from the Liverpool loanee, or he was showing that he’s concerned about Wilson usurping him in the free-kick rankings.
