Leicester closing in on smart deal to tie down Man United-linked star

Jamie Vardy is close to signing a new three-and-a-half year contract with Leicester, despite interest from a host of big clubs, according to reports from The Guardian.

The England international has enjoyed a stellar season for the Foxes, with his 16 Premier League goals the highest individual tally in the division.

Naturally, there have been links between Vardy and a host of big clubs, with Manchester United one name to have been put in the mix.

However, Leicester are keen to ensure that they don’t lose their man and reports claim they are set to tie him down to a new contract.

It’s understood that talks have been on-going since before Christmas, with Vardy expected to be handed a significant boost on his £40,000-per-week salary.

At 29, the potential new deal would appear to be the striker’s last chance to secure a bumper contract.

As well as Man United, Real Madrid have been, according to reports, looking at Vardy.
